Published in The Stand Tuesday, July 26, 2016 VOTE and Support Key Statewide Candidates Don’t wait! Find your ballot, fill it out and send it in. Voters in Washington state have received their Primary Election ballots and if recent elections, and early return rates are any indication, the percentage of people that will bother voting between now and Aug. 2 will be shamefully low. But the good news is, with such a small percentage of the state’s 4 million eligible voters likely to return their ballots, union members have a great opportunity to make sure that champions of working families advance to the General Election. Check out the full list of WSLC-endorsed candidates. Big Turnout for Solidarity Night, Fun for All Solidarity Night this year was a lot of fun!! The weather was perfect for a game and attendees took full advantage of the $2 food selections. Thanks to Machinists 751, SPEEA, the United Way of Snohomish County and the Snohomish County Labor Council for providing fun and informational handouts which included yoyos, airplanes, balloons, carpenter pencils, woven grocery bags, union information and candy. By game time the tables were empty. We don’t have attendance figures yet but everyone was talking about the great turnout. In other years we have had tickets left over – not this year! We ended up handing out 5,000 tickets to the affiliates and many were still asking for tickets the week of the game.
